4 Searching for information is like finding a needle in a haystack. Why?

5 Many database, many user interface.

6 Single Search Definition Fast, simple access to the library’s electronic resource in a single search box.

7 I still want to use other individual databases... You can continue to search individual databases like CINAHL, Nursing Resource Center as you have done in the past. Please be aware that many databases tend to be subject specific. For example, CINAHL generally covers materials related to nursing and medicine while MLA covers subjects pertaining to literature.

11 Searching the Single Search (basic search) Enter your search term in a text field, then click button 1 You may select to restrict your results to a Title search or an Author search using the radio buttons below the text field 2 1 1 2 2

12 2 2 3 3 1 1 Result List Search results can be citations, library catalog records, full text articles, books, multimedia, document summaries or abstracts, and can include links to full text. The Result List Screen has three columns Left – Limiters and Facets Middle – Results Display Right – Related Information 1 2 3

13 Viewing Search Result 1 1 2 2 1 The article title link takes you to the Detailed Record page (the citation information and/or the full text). 3 3 2 The Full Text link below each result takes you directly to the full text of the article/book. 3 Click at Add to Folder to save an article to the Folder.

14 1 1 3 3 2 2 Detailed Record Detailed Record may also include a summary or an abstract. Manage tools available to you on the right- hand side of the screen. 1 2 3 The link to full text of the article may appear on the left, if available.

15 Viewing full text You have two locations to access full text, at Result List page or Detail Record page. Full text may be provide in PDF, HTML or both. 1 1 1 2 2 2

16 Limiters and Facets Breadbox - Keeps track of the numbers of results, your search terms, search options, and clusters applied to your search. Limit your results – Apply limiters such as full text or Publication date. Select any of the limiters displayed and click Update. A revised Result List displays. Facets – You can narrow by source type, subject, journal, author, and more. 1 1 1 2 2 3 3 2 3

19 Translating an Article Click Translate. The full text of the article is presented in the language you selected. From the article detail, select a language from the Choose Language drop-down list. 1 2

22 PDF Full Text Viewer PDF Full Text will be viewed in the PDF Full Text Viewer tool. Use navigator control to read an article. You can print, save or bookmark PDF full text by clicking buttons.

23 None full text result Single Search also include result which MFU did not subscribe. It will be show but not full text link below. It’s detail page may include abstract or summary, you can click at title to view it 1 1 1

26 Viewing Catalog Results On the result list, library catalog may included. From the Detailed Record of a library catalog result, you may click at Title to see online information, OR click to item’s status 1 1 2 2 1 2

27 The Detailed Record is displayed Additional book enrichment data from Library of Congress may include: Table of Contents Author information Related Information may include: Reviews of the book. Similar Books. Other books by the same author. Google Book Preview

28 You can read some page of book in library’s catalog using Google Book Preview, without a printed copy.

29 Tools Menu When viewing an article, there are several management tools available to you on the right-hand side of the screen.

30 Tools Menu Add to folder - Add the article to the session folder or your personal account folder 1 1 1

32 Tools Menu E-mail the article to yourself or multiple e-mail addresses. 3

33 Tools Menu Save the article to a destination on your computer. 4

34 Tools Menu Cite - Retrieve citation information for the article in several different formats. 5

35 Tools Menu Export the article to your bibliographic management software. 6

36 Viewing full text on other platform Some search result may not provide full text on EDS directly. You can click at link, it will take you to other online database’s page with full text

37 VIEWING E-BOOK

38 Sign in / Create account Your must sign in before download e-book. If you don’t have one yet, create your new account.

39 eBook on EBSCO E-Book also include in in you search result. 1 1 2 2 1 The title link takes you to the book information and view full text 3 3 2 The Full Text link takes you directly to the full text, or you can download e-book to read offline (see it later) 3 Click to see table of contents of the book you are viewing.

40 eBook on EBSCO You may use Source Types Facet to limit your result list to e-book. Click at Show more link 1 Select at eBooks 2 Click Update button 3 1 1 2 2 3 3

46 Downloading e-book (signed in) Save download e-book file (*.acsm) to your computer/device. 4 5 For Desktop use (Windows and Macintosh), open your downloaded file using Adobe® Digital Editions 4 4 *This tutorial use Firefox, download interface for other browser may differ.

47 Software Requirements You must download and install application which required to read e-book offline, it’s depend on you OS and platform.

48 Adobe® Digital Editions You can download Adobe® Digital Editions at http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions.html, its installation can done easily.

50 Reading e-book offline After your checkout period, offline data will be disable automatically.
