When two or more than two Sikhs see together, they exchange the greeting SAT SRI AKAAL. It means GOD is true and out of death. When two or more than two baptized Sikhs meet together , they exchange the greeting “Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji kee Fateh”. It means ,the Khalsa belongs to GOD and ordered by GOD and all victories of Khalsa are the victories of GOD.

The founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev ji was born in 1469 in Punjab. He travelled extensively throughout India and other countries up to Irak preaching people for more than 20 years, setting up centres of worship wherever He went.
He was succeeded by nine Gurus, each of which helped to consolidate the Sikh faith.

You can see this principle in practice in the form of Langer. In Langar people cook together, serve together and eat together sitting on the floor side by side regardless of caste, color and status. Everything that is cooked there is strictly vegetarian and everybody is welcomed to share it. The volunteers do the kitchen service.

9. Guru Gobind Singh Ji (1666-1708)

Passed Guruship to the Holy Scriptures “ Guru Granth Sahib Ji”
Against this background Guru Gobind Singh , The 10th and the last Guru in human form , formed a new fraternity known as Khalsa. Its members were given a distinct identity and motivated to lead a courageous life.
He baptized the ‘The Five Beloved Ones’ and he was also baptized by those ‘Five Beloved Ones’. That is why he called Guru and Disciple at the same time. Since that day every Sikh male has the second name SINGH , it means ‘Lion’ and every Sikh female has the second name KAUR, it means ‘Princess’.
The tenth Guru ordered the Sikhs that there would not be more Guru in human form after Him. He finalized the Adi Granth by adding the hymns of ninth Guru in it. He ordered to his followers to accept the Adi Granth as the Living Guru after Him.

The present Living Guru of Sikhs
The tenth Guru ordered the Sikhs that there would not be more Guru in human form after Him. He finalized the Adi Granth by adding the hymns of ninth Guru in it. He ordered to his followers to accept the Adi Granth as the Living Guru after Him.
Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh Holy Scripture contains the writings of saints from different backgrounds along with those of Sikh Gurus. So, now Guru Granth Sahib is the living Guru of the Sikhs forever. Sikhs give utmost respect to Guru Granth Sahib . Sikhs install Guru Granth Sahib on a raised place, on a dais and under the canopy. The ‘Chauwry’ is the fan made of horse tale hair, used for the respect. In ancient times it was waved for the respect of the kings. So this is the tradition to respect Guru Granth Sahib.
