3 Description of the disease Severe, often fatal disease in humans and nonhuman primates. It is a virus

4 History of the disease The first case of ebola virus out breakout occurred in the form of ebola virus hemorrhagic fever in the year, 1976 in Zaire

5 Symptoms Some include fever, headache, joint and muscle ache, sore throat, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain In some patients, rash, red eyes, hiccups, internal and external bleeding

6 Transmission Direct contact with blood and/or secretions of an infected person Objects that have been contaminated by infected secretions

7 Where it originated Originated from 1976. Named after a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) in Africa, where it was first recognized.

8 Cures or Treatments There is no standard treatment for Ebola. Patients receive supportive therapy. Types of supportive therapy are: balancing the patient’s fluids and electrolytes, maintaining their oxygen status and blood pressure, and treating them for any complicating infections.
