BIBLE READING John 13: 1 It was before Passover meal and Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and to return to the Father. He had always loved his followers and he loved them to the end. Luke 22: 14 - 20 When the time came for Jesus and the disciples to eat, he said to them, ‘I have very much wanted to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer. I tell you that I won’t eat another Passover meal until it is finally eating in God’s Kingdom.

Jesus took some bread in his hands and gave thanks for it. He broke the bread and handed it to is disciples. Then he said, ‘This is my body, which is given for you. Eat it as a way of remembering me!’ After the meal he took a cup of wine in his hands. Then he said, ‘This is my blood. It is poured out for you and with it God makes a new agreement.’

We Pray Together: We thank You, loving God, for all that you have done for us. We pray for Deaf people everywhere. We pray for all those people who are suffering and for those who remember friends and family who have died. We pray for New Zealand, that we will become a country who accept You and help people in need. We ask You to help us and to help other people. Help us become more like Jesus. Amen.

ALL together (Please Stand): We believe in God: Who has created and continues creating, Who has come in the true person, Jesus, To mend the broken hearted and make all things new. God works in us and other people by God’s Holy Spirit. We trust God. God calls us to be in the church:

To celebrate God; Who is always with us. To love and serve others, To work for justice, And stop evil. To tell people about Jesus, Crucified and risen. Our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life Beyond death, God is with us. WE ARE NOT ALONE Thanks to God.

Take our bread, we ask You, Take our hearts, we love You, Take our lives, loving God, We are Yours. Yours as we stand at the table You set Yours as we eat the bread our hearts can’t forget. We are the sign of your life with us yet, We are Yours, we are Yours.

Take our bread, we ask You, Take our hearts, we love You, Take our lives, loving God, We are Yours. Take our bread, we ask You, Take our hearts, we love You, Take our lives, loving God, We are Yours, we are Yours, we are Yours.

MINISTER: With joy we give you thanks and praise, God, the giver of light and life. You made us and gave us the Earth to care for and enjoy. With all your people we give thanks for Jesus, who came to gather us together as one family. For this great love, we, with angels and saints, give praise to you and sign:

ALL: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, you are God of Heaven and Earth. Glory to Jesus, your son, whose death we remember and resurrection we celebrate as we wait for him to return. Amen.

THE LAST SUPPER: The night before he died, Jesus, showed God’s great love for us. When he was at supper with his friends, Jesus took bread and gave thanks and praise to God. Then he broke the bread, gave it to his friends, and said, ‘Take this all of you and eat: it is my Body which is given for you.’

When the supper was finished, Jesus took the cup that was filled with wine. He said, ‘Thank You God’ and gave it to his friends and said, ‘Take this all of you and drink from it. This is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant (promise). It will be shed for you and for all people, so that sins may be forgiven.’

PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT: MINISTER: Pour out your Holy Spirit on us, and on these gifts of bread and wine. And as we eat them, though there are many of us, may we become one in Jesus.

ALL: God, we come to the table that you have made ready for us. We thank you for this bread and wine, your gifts of life in Christ. Look on us with your love, mercy and grace as we eat and drink believing that you will grow in us and we will grow in you. Amen.

MINISTER: Christ’s Body was given for us all, so that Christ’s life is our life. This is the table of Jesus Christ and it is our table, too. You are invited to come and receive the love of God, through Jesus, in the sharing of the bread and the wine.

Come in Faith. Come in freedom. Come in God’s love for you.

I sign a simple song of love To my Saviour, to my Jesus; I’m grateful for the things You’ve done, My loving Saviour, My precious Jesus. My heart is glad that You’ve called me Your own, There is no place I want to be But in Your arms of love, In Your arms of love, Holding me still Holding me near In Your arms of love.
