2 What was “the last glacial period”?? The most recent glacial period occured approximately 110.000 to 10.000 years ago. In those years, there occurred several changes in the advance and reatreat of the ice. Sometime, this period is referred as the “last ice age”, but this use is incorrect, because “glacial periods” are colder phases inside the ice age, that is longer.

3 The scientists don´t know what is the real causes, but the accept cause of the ice age is the solar radiation, the variations in the intensity and heating of the sun over our planet. What were the causes of this Glacial Period??

4 The Bering Strait Theory The ice age hindered the water cicle, because the water evaporated, and it didn´t turned to rain, but to snow. In this way, the water didn´t get back to the ocean, that´s why the water volume lowered. With this fact, the ice age support a theory of the beggining of the population in America, because of the ocean decreases. This theory is the most accepted in the world, and it is called “The Bering Strait Theory”. It indicates that the homo sapiens walked through Africa, Asia and the Bering Strait. But Before the Ice Age, it was under water, and ir appeared when the water lowered, making possible the passage of humans.
