3. Of course! We can go to the haunted house……

4. Haunted house? It’s so scary, I’m afraid of ghosts! Oh, I see, people there dress up in different costumes, and wear make up to pretend as witches, vampires, skeletons, mummies and even Frankenstein.

5. These scary images make us both excited and frightened. Don’t be so scared! They are just fictional characters which do not exist in reality. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and the devils and ghosts will be dispelled.

6. Nowadays, we use the idiom ‘cross one’s finger’ when we are preparing for important events such as examinations and sports competitions in our lives. I see. Whenever we are worried, scared or frightened, just “cross our fingers” and hope for the best.
