2 * College & Career Readiness- How the state defines students who meet benchmark scores on state/national tests/certifications * College Readiness benchmarks are met through a combination of any of the following: ACT, COMPASS, KYOTE * Career Readiness measures are met through completing a career pathway and passing the end test/certification

3 KDE:OAA:DSR 2/7/2013 3 College/Career Readiness Rate College Ready: Must meet benchmarks on one of the following: College Ready ACT COMPASS KYOTE Career Ready: Must meet benchmarks for one requirement in Career Academic area and must meet one requirement in Career Technical area Career Ready Academic Career Ready Technical Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) ACT WorkKeys (Applied Math, Locating information, and Reading for Information) Kentucky Occupationa l Skills Standards Assessment (KOSSA) Industry Certificates Bonus: College AND Career Ready must meet at least one from each area College Ready Academic Career Ready Technical ACT or COMPASS or KYOTE KOSSA Industry Certificates NOTES: (1) By meeting the College Ready Academic definition, the student does not have to take the additional tests of ASVAB or WorkKeys for the bonus area. (2) For accountability purposes, the bonus shall not allow the readiness percentage to exceed 100 percent. 3

5 * All students must choose a career pathway * On-campus offerings include Business Management & Legal Office; an Arts & Humanities pathway is currently being created * Off-campus offerings include: Health Sciences, Administrative Support, Business Management, Auto Technology, Information Technology, Machine Tool/Welding, & Carpentry (ATC)

6 * The ATC is a great way to explore a variety of career pathways as a junior/senior. * Diploma requirements have shifted to accommodate students interested in both College AND Career Readiness. * Potential certifications such as CPR, MNA, ASE Certification, IC-3, and much more! * Fulton County ATC ranks 17 th out of 53 ATCs in Kentucky on Career Readiness Measures!

7 * Students have the opportunity to earn the FHS Diploma or the Mastery Diploma * Significant changes to the Mastery Diploma were approved for the upcoming school year in order to increase the emphasis on CCR, promote the ATC, and accommodate students in reaching College AND Career Readiness measures

8 * English: 4 * Math: 3 (Math every year) * Science: 3 * Social Studies: 3 * HVPA: 1 * Health/PE: 1 * Electives: 7 * Total: 22 It is required that all students take a math course EVERY year Must have completed an ILP every year from grades 6-12 while in a KY school ALL seniors must complete a total of 20 community service hours their senior year (logged in ILP)

9 * English: 4 * Math: 4 (Math every year) * Science: 3 * Social Studies: 3 * HVPA: 1 * Health/PE: 1 * Foreign Language: 2 * Electives: 6 * Total: 24 Students must complete a minimum of 3 credits in one career pathway (aka Preparatory) Students must meet College and/or Career Readiness Only students meeting these requirements will be eligible for Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and Honors Night Speaker Must have completed an ILP every year from grades 6-12 while in a KY school ALL seniors must complete a total of 20 community service hours their senior year (logged in ILP)

10 * Students must pass at minimum 5 courses each year in order to be promoted to the next grade. * A student must pass their core content courses – failure of one of these courses could result in summer school, prolonged graduation, or in a change in diploma type

11 * KHSAA requires students to have met a certain percentage of their diploma requirements each year (averages to approximately 6 credits/year) in order to be eligible to play sports. * Students aspiring to play sports in college need to be aware that a CORE GPA is calculated by NCAA that only includes pre-approved English, Math, Science, & Social Studies Courses. * Please see Coach Malray, AD for more info

13 * Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship * Eligibility Requirements: - US Citizen -KY resident -Minimum yearly GPA of 2.5 -Attend and graduate from a KY approved school -Not be a convicted felon * Get Bonus Awards by doing your best on the ACT (min 15)

14 Students can access their KEES account anytime. Get your students involved with checking their account information prior to graduation. – Verify the correct Social Security number – Verify date of birth – Verify yearly grades and award amounts – Verify the highest ACT or SAT score on file

15 The student clicks “sign in” and enters his/her user ID and password

16 Students will be asked to register the first time they visit Zip Access. They will create their unique user ID and password when registering.

17 Students will be given this menu after they have logged in. To see their account information, they will need to select Zip Access.

18 KEES High School Information will be displayed in this manner. Students may update their personal contact information in the “personal profile” section.

20 * 9 th – 12 th : AIMS (Adventures in Math & Science) * 10 th – HOBY (Hugh O’Bryan Youth Leadership Seminar) * 10 th – Gatton Academy (live, attend school-11 th & 12 th, and graduate high school on the campus of WKU) * 11 th – GSP (Governor’s Scholars Program) * 11 th – MSU CHA (Commonwealth Honors Academy)
