Chess Recognition Shai karnei – Reem Nathan Meisels
Motivation For this project we aimed to detect chess pieces and their location.
UI Simple – take a picture – get a picture back with Homography and pieces type and location.
Algorithm Image captured Canny Hough Line Transform
Algorithm Take outer Board lines homography Split to 8x8 grid
Algorithm Run template matching on each square and return piece type and location
Bad result Bad hough line detection => bad Homography => Bad board and pieces detection
Checkers Cheaters. Goals Detection of the board and the pieces (blacks and whites). Display of an optimal move using animated arrows according to a non-trivial.
