1 By: Ashley Wolter 12/5/06 TRED 251 Dr. Robbins Saves the day!

2 Jefe was a new student from Guatemala and was struggling in his History class.

3 He sat in class every other day for an hour and a half mostly just staring at the board. He thought to himself, “ Wow, this teacher has so much to say about History. Do I need to know ALL of this to pass the test? ”

4 Every night he was assigned 5-10 pages to read in his History book. “ Wow, this book has so much to say about History. Do I need to know ALL of this for the test?! ”

5 “ This is just too much information ” Jefe thought as he read through a chapter in his History book. “ How am I supposed to memorize it all? ” “ I have an idea ” roared a voice from underneath Jefe ’ s bed.

6 “ I ’ m Take Notes Tiger and I can teach you how to take notes from the book AND your teachers lecture. ” Let ’ s start with folding a sheet of notebook paper in like this:

7 Write details here that support the main idea. Include important words and ideas. Write MAIN IDEAS Here

8 “ The main ideas are usually in BOLD print in your book. Your teacher will usually EMPHASIZE the main ideas when he or she is talking. This means they will talk about it multiple times or he or she will begin the lesson with the main ideas. ” Ok Class. Today we are going to talk about the causes of World War II, who was involved in WW II, and where WW II took place.

9 “ Once you ’ ve written all your notes, practice reading them out loud to see if they make sense. If you have any questions, you can write them in the MAIN IDEAS column and be sure to ask your teacher. ”

10 Jefe decided he would use Take Notes Tiger ’ s ideas for class tomorrow. During the teacher ’ s lecture he wrote down the main ideas that the teacher talked about at the beginning.

11 He remembered that Take Notes Tiger said to put ONLY the main ideas and questions on the left side of the paper. “ Your notes look great Jefe! Where did you learn that? ” said his teacher.

12 Jefe told his teacher how Take Notes Tiger taught him how to take notes in class and from the book. The teacher said he wished he had Take Notes to help in when he was in school.

13 Jefe thought about Take Notes Tiger everyday in class. “ History is so much easier now! Thanks Tiger!! ”
