11 We have Teachers' Days to honor teachers. We often make use of the day to express our gratitude to our teachers, such as sending them a card. This date was chosen to commemorate the birthday of Confucius, the model teacher in ancient China. The Ministry of Education established the national holiday as September 28th.

Chu Yuan drowned on 5/5 of the lunar calendar in 277 B.C. The ancient Chinese threw bamboo leaves filled with cooked rice and meat into the water. Therefore the fish would eat the rice rather than the hero poet. This later on turned into the custom of eating rice dumplings. It is really yummy and very popular nowadays.
