Peter Potter Gallery engage Scotland Everyone Project outcomes and impact
Lost Landscapes challenges perceptions of contemporary art. Lost Landscapes connects artists with the community. Lost Landscapes takes people outside. Lost Landscapes supports and develops artists. Lost Landscapes is for everyone. Lost Landscapes is evolving…..
Sanderson’s Wynd The Hub at Sanderson’s Wynd is East Lothian’s provision for primary pupils with severe and complex needs. Based in Tranent, the school draws students from across the EL region The hub has good modern facilities, having been completed in 2008 Juliana Muir (née Capes) worked with pupils over 6 sessions, as one of a number of mini-residencies offered to EL schools
Other primary school work in the ‘Art and Landscape’ exhibition
‘What a result. The art work looks beautiful in the front window of Peter Potter. Well done to everyone who took part. I look forward to Juliana visiting us again and your artwork eventually finding a home at Sanderson’s Wynd.’ Anne Cockburn, headmistress
An art project with adults with mental health problems Sustained oral history and arts workshops for participants from day centres for the elderly An outdoors shelter-building and performance poetry workshop for teens with behavioural issues An artist’s residency in school for primary children with complex needs, culminating in an exhibition An archaeological dig with ‘Dads Work’, a support group for single fathers A series of weaving workshops delivered to elderly people at the local mental health assessment ward
Moving Forward The gallery will operate across the region, freeing itself of the physical limitations of the gallery walls Within the gallery, we will be clear about access limitations as well as how we can accommodate visitor needs When project planning with new groups, we will build in longer timescales and more delivery time in order to give artists a chance connect with groups We will publicise our opportunities for all, throughout our growing networks We will review our approach to interpretation in 2012, and cost a multi-sensory approach into our next round of fundraising.
