It is to look at current events and compare them to events spoken of in the Bible.. I hope to build up a picture of God’s hand working in the affairs of this world. God is bringing about a day when all nations will be gathered to Jerusalem to battle. At that time God will send His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, back to this earth. Jesus will then establish God’s kingdom on earth. This kingdom will last for ever. This is our hope and the reason we watch. It is in no way meant to be exhaustive – just a look at those events I saw as significant from a Biblical point of view. What is in a Weekly World Watch? BIBLE QUOTE This is normally one verse which backs up why the event that has occurred is interesting from a Biblical perspective. Please read in its context. Unless stated otherwise, all quotes are from the King James Version. (Book, chapter, and verse) This is straight from a news report that caught my eye because it looked significant from a Biblical perspective, usually that of prophecy. Israel warning if PA seeks UN statehood Israel will pursue its own unilateral steps if the Palestinians do not return to the negotiating table and instead seek UN support for unilateral moves to declare a state within the pre- 1967 lines, a government source told The Jerusalem Post late Thursday night. “If the Palestinians think that unilateral moves are a one-way street, they are sadly mistaken. It is an option that both sides have,” said the source. There was some speculation that Israel may be considering reviving aspects of former prime minister Ehud Olmert’s “convergence” ideas for a unilateral withdrawal from isolated parts of the West Bank, evacuating settlements and deploying soldiers there instead. But there was no official confirmation on Thursday night of any such plans and a settler source dismissed the notion as nonsense. Direct talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, begun in early September, were suspended on September 26 when Israel did not renew its 10-month moratorium on new settlement construction. Jerusalem Post, October 22, 2010 EVENT COMMENT Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel: I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination. BIBLE QUOTE (Jeremiah 2:4,7) There is still no movement on the peace process. It continues to be stalled with both sides now talking of unilateral decisions. This cannot go on indefinitely - something will have to give. The Palestinians have said they will go to the United Nations and ask for a Palestinian State to be recognised on 1967 borders. This would include East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Israel it appears would also then make a unilateral decision to pull out of only certain parts of the West Bank but definitely not from Jerusalem. IF this was the outcome then a number of prophecies could be fulfilled. Firstly the prophecies that speak of the nations dividing God’s land. Secondly those that indicate that Israel keeps Jerusalem BUT also reject God, his ways and his land. God will judge both the nations that divide his land and Israel for allowing it.

6. Peres: We cannot exist without the United States President Shimon Peres said that Israel cannot survive without the help of the United States, at a Jerusalem conference of the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute on Thursday. Peres said that, "for our existence, we need the friendship of the United States of America.“ Speaking of how Israel can give back to the US, he said that just "as the US is trying to understand the security needs of Israel, we Israelis ourselves must understand the security needs of the US." He continued, "We cannot give back to the United States what the US is giving us, but in our own small way, we can be of help.“ Connecting two of the largest issues on the Israeli - and American - agenda, the president said Israel could be of help to the US by enabling an "anti-Iran coalition in the Middle East” Jerusalem Post, October 22, 2010 EVENT COMMENT And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. …the inhabitants of Jerusalem,.. shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. BIBLE QUOTE Here is the voice of a faithless man. The president of Israel says that Israel CANNOT exist without the United States! Was it the United States that created Israel? Was it the United States the brought the scattered Jewish people back to the land? Was it the United States that won the victory for the Israeli people in 1948, 1967, 1973 etc? The answer to all these questions is NO. The answer to all these questions is … GOD. God created Israel, God brought them back to his land, God helped them win the victories and establish a Jewish nation again. The leaders of Israel trust in their own strength and the strength of America. They are about to realise that there is only one we can put our trust in. When Israel is on their knees and many have been taken into captivity and even more killed they will see the Lord Jesus Christ and finally trust in him (Zechariah 12::9-10)

7. UN envoy condemns new West Bank settlements The United Nations special envoy for Mideast peace, Robert Serry, has condemned Israel's renewed building in dozens of West Bank settlements, saying the construction is "illegal under international law" and "will only further undermine trust." The Israeli advocacy group Peace Now said Thursday Jewish settlers have begun building more than 600 homes in dozens of West Bank settlements since Israel's partial construction moratorium expired last month. The group said foundations have been dug for 300 units and work is under way for the rest, many of them in smaller settlements that would be most unlikely to remain as part of Israel in any future two- state deal with the Palestinians. The anti-settlement group says the rate of construction is four times faster than before the 10-month settlement freeze was enacted in November 2009. Hagit Ofran, who monitors settlements for Peace Now, said the rush appears to be driven by fear among settlers that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would renew the settlement freeze under U.S. pressure. Voice of America, October 22, 2010 EVENT COMMENT Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. BIBLE QUOTE (Zechariah 12:3-3) Whatever happens in the next days, weeks and months we can be certain that Israel will still be living in the West Bank. Even if unilateral decisions are made on either side Jerusalem will remain in Israel’s hands and Jewish people will still be there in West Bank. We know this because Ezekiel 38:8 speaks of the nations (led by Russia) coming against the “mountains of Israel”. These mountains run through the West Bank. It makes sense therefore to believe that Israel still has control over these mountains. Zechariah 12:2 speaks of a siege against both Judah (Israel) and Jerusalem. The Jews therefore are still controlling Jerusalem when the battle starts. As the United Nations condemn Israel’s presence on the West Bank – we see ALL nations gathering for war.

8. US to sell $60 bn in advanced arms to Saudi Arabia The Obama administration notified Congress on Wednesday that it plans to sell up to $60 billion (£38 billion) in advanced weaponry to Saudi Arabia in one of the largest- ever single US arms sales, a deal intended to counter the rising influence of Iran. State Department and Pentagon officials told lawmakers that the sales that will include 84 new F-15 fighter jets, upgrades to 70 existing Saudi F-15s, 190 helicopters and a wide array of missiles, bombs and delivery systems, as well as accessories such as night-vision goggles and radar warning systems. The sale, first revealed in September, has been in the works for months and is designed to strengthen the defence forces of Saudi Arabia, a longtime US ally, and counter Iran as a regional power in the Persian Gulf. "This proposed sale has tremendous significance from a strategic regional perspective," said Andrew Shapiro, the assistant secretary of state for political and military affairs who announced the deal. "It will send a strong message to countries in the region that we are committed to support the security of our key partners and allies in the Arabian Gulf and broader Middle East," Daily Telegraph, October 20, 2010 EVENT COMMENT Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil? These nations form the King of the South that oppose Russia etc who form the king of the north. Notice the words above… “This proposed sale has tremendous significance…” And it has to those who love God’s word and his prophecies. It shows us that the words written by Ezekiel 2,500 years ago are true. Ezekiel prophesied that Sheba and Dedan would be working together with Tarshish and the young lions. Sheba and Dedan cover the area of modern Saudi Arabia. The offspring of Tarshish (Britain) is of course the United States – a young lion. So in Bible language we have seen this week a “young lion” supporting “Sheba”. Despite being Arab, Saudi Arabia will NOT fight against Israel BIBLE QUOTE (Ezekiel 38:13)

9. Russia seeks foreign policy voice in Europe Russia sought to use a summit starting Monday to cement a greater role in Europe's security and foreign policy — a shift that France and Germany embrace but that's tougher to sell to the rest of the long-divided continent. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said he wanted a "worthy global response" to his entreaties for a new security deal with Europe as he headed into two days of meetings with French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in this French beach resort. With terrorist threats, concerns about Iran's nuclear program and the war in Afghanistan high in European governments' minds, security emerged as the key theme of this week's summit. Moscow is also looking to create a Russia-EU committee on foreign policy and security, according to the Kremlin, and to build a "democratic space of equal and indivisible security in the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasia region." Associated Press, October 18, 2010 EVENT COMMENT And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: … And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron There is still a division at the end but there is a common hatred of God’s people. A number of points are worthy of note with this article. Russia is working ever closer with Europe – interestingly with Germany and France. We are in effect seeing BOTH the legs of Nebuchadnezzar's dream working together. The iron legs of Daniel 2 symbolise the fact that the Roman Empire divided into 2 parts. An East and West. The East became dominated by Russia. The West became dominated by Germany. Daniel 7 explains the development of the West. Daniel 8 explains the development of the East. Russia is now influencing Europe and is looking for “indivisible security” between the two. In other words a reuniting of ambition and strategic goals. At the end we will see Russia and Europe united in hatred for God and His people. BIBLE QUOTE (Daniel 2:40-41)

10. Russia halts grain exports Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Friday because of unprecedented environmental conditions Russia will not export grain until next year. "Yesterday I signed the government's decision to extend the moratorium on grain exports until July 1, 2011," Putin said during a meeting on agriculture in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. Russia went through the worst heat wave in its history resulting in severe drought and forest fires destroying 32 million acres of the country's grain crop, RIA Novosti reported. Putin banned Russia's exportation of grain triggering a rise in grain prices even as about 60 million tons had been gathered this year, RIA Novosti said. "This is the volume that was actually forecasted. Now we know for sure what resources we possess, what the grain balance will look like," he said. Putin said there would be enough grain for domestic consumption, not export. UPI, October 22, 2010 EVENT COMMENT And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: These words MUST have a final fulfilment in the very “last days” in which we live. BIBLE QUOTE We perhaps do not appreciate quite the extent of the disaster that has happened in Russia this year. The unprecedented heatwave caused the largest nation on earth to burn. To give you some idea of the scale of the disaster think of this. 32,000,000 acres of Russia’s grain crop were destroyed by fire. 32,000,000 acres = 50,000 sq miles. The whole of England = 50,356 sq miles! Prices of grain are rocketing upwards due to this shortage and Russia’s ban on exports. This will have a knock on effect to countries like Iran which this week has stopped food subsidiaries. This on its own could put up bread by 20% and is predicted to cause popular unrest. God’s hand is behind all of this. He uses the “natural” elements of heat, water, cold to bring about his purpose. We also know that in the last days we will see “wonders” with fire and vapour of smoke! (Acts 2:17,19)
