Problems in learning Wrong – problem in teaching What is the greatest challenge in the classroom? Disengaged students. – Why are we learning this? – This is boring – I don’t understand the book at all – Is this useful – etc
Exercise What game do you like most and why List 3 problems you would like your students to solve after finishing your course What can be the most engaging game/activities/project you can design for each of these (or all of these)
Three trends for GBL Learners are different Pace of change is different Problems are different – No clear solution or procedure – Trial and error is norm Technology provide individualized interactive tools
Three ways of learning Analysis – philosophy, logical Empirical – experiment, scientific methods Trial and error – games, most working environment, real behavior change, case studies, project-based learning But we only do the first two?!
