3. How to teach seniors! The workshop must be considered as a leisure activity Little groups : 1 instructor for 4 students 8 weeks to learn the basics ( mail/internet/ text editor) 1h30 or max 2h (with a pause) per week Paper handouts For the instructor : lots of patience concrete, without technical jargon If senior instructor : better mutual understanding If junior instructor : interesting intergenerational exchange

4. What should seniors learn about ICT? A bunch of useful applications for daily life = the best motivation for learners / the computer is only a TOOL ! Be WIRED = understand how/that digital technologies affect : Culture Economy Politics The concept of Internet culture : E-administration, e-government e-identity and security problems E-participation : the e-citizen gets involved in the decision making process – chats with elected representative

The extension of the computer…. 6 months training on interactive tablets : IPAD (Apple), Galaxy (Samsung), (Archos ) PC tablet Top 8 applications : -IPLAN application = GPS localization + searching for maps -TALKING TOM = funny application -Games : « Solitaire », cognitive stimulation games, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble -Reading books with IBOOKS -GOOGLE EARTH -Reading the newspapers -Cooking with receipes on tablets -Astronomy with SKYORB

Mobile devices for easier mobility New projects - > need for teaching the use of AAL (ambiant assisted living) technologies Facilitate the mobility of the elderly through the use of real-time information and adaptive technologies with advices and warnings about:  Public transportation  Car traffic  Meteo  Travel tips Personalized travel planning and route optimization, assisted via digital terminals Local assistance via mobile phone "on the way"
