JOURNAL PROMPT: Write about the worst injury or pain you have ever had in your life. Tell the story as if you were retelling it to your best friend, making sure not to leave out any details.
The car landed awkwardly, causing it to roll.
The car blasted through the guardrail, went into a free-fall, then spun around in the air and landed sideways, causing the weight to shift. Freddy felt the momentum pulling the car forward. The car kept rolling, and with each flip, Freddy felt more and more helpless.
SHOWING VS. TELLING
EXAMPLE: Telling Sentence: The old man stood in the grass and relaxed as the sun went down. Showing Sentence: The grass caressed his feet and a smile softened his eyes. A hot puff of air brushed against his wrinkled cheek as the sky paled yellow, then crimson, and within a breath, electric indigo.
