Thursday, January 14 th 2010 Title of Project John Q. Public, Ph.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering Jane S. Day, M.D. General Hospital FYxx_Pzzz Please put your project number here
Project objective Page 2 1.Summarize the specific problem or issue your effort is directed toward. 2.Identify the specific product, material, or procedure that would result from a successful program outcome; the goal for improved patient care.
Clinical Impact Page 3 Describe: What is the market being served? What is the “standard of care” and how are patient needs not being met? What are the competitors doing about it? Any distinguishing characteristics of your procedure, material, or product that meet clinical needs better.
Background Page 4 In just one slide, please briefly describe any research already conducted and (a summary) of data that may already have been obtained. - If you had a pilot project or prior funding describe the outcomes that apply here. Really, just 1 slide will do, as you only have 10 minutes to present.
Technology Page 5 In just one slide, please briefly describe the technology that is being applied to solve the problem. Really, just one slides should do, as the audience already has some insight on the work that was funded. Please remember that the Coulter Foundation is not funding basic science research, but is seeking the practical application of scientific knowledge.
Current Project Plan Page 6 The plan should itemize: Key milestones and the % funds used to date. Anticipated completion dates Potential risk items Please note: An important purpose of this plan is for the audience to understand that the project plan is achievable with the funds awarded.
Follow-on Project Plan Page 7 Program steps that are anticipated at the end of the project to enable you to accomplish the Project Objective stated on page 2.
Commercialization Plan Page 8 Three components to address: A. Current IP status of the proposed project B. Potential technology transfer mechanism C. Potential technology transfer targets.
Follow-on Funding Page 9 What steps to secure follow-on funding are in- place (or anticipated) to enable you to accomplish the Project Objective stated on page 2. Provide specific sources if that information is available.
Summary Page 10 A.Current status of the technology investment B.Technology transfer targets C.Role that the Coulter funding has provided
