3 CHILE A RELIABLE PARTNER CHILEAN PROMOTION BUREAU Chile on the brink of development, but faces two key challenges To enhance productivity. Chile's growth slowed from an average of 7.3% in 1990´s to 4% in 2000´s. To tackle inequality. While Chile has made substantial progress in reducing poverty, the average income of the richest 20% was 14 times that of the poorest 20% in 2009. The government is working on these challenges: Education reform. Better quality, better access, Free 70%and Tax Reform, to finance education. those who have more to contribute more Strong Social policies to favor women, Children, small enterprises Achieve greater competitiveness, including modernization of the state; Promote investment and return to high growth rates To reduce our dependence on energy imports
