3 MISSOURI S&T ENGINEERING EDUCATION CENTER IN ST. LOUIS MISSION: EEC serves the population of Greater St. Louis providing evening graduate degrees in various engineering and computer/information science related disciplines. This service of Missouri S&T is mostly intended for working engineers, IST and computer science professionals interested in enhancing their qualification and status via acquiring an advanced degree. In addition to students in St. Louis, the courses delivered by the EEC are available to students on the main campus and to distance students worldwide. HISTORY: Operating since 1964. EEC has awarded over 2,700 MS degrees. 3

6 CURRENTLY AVAILABLE GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS http://eec.mst.edu/programs/certificates/ A graduate certificate program provides advanced knowledge in a specific area of interest. A typical program consists of 4 standard graduate courses that can be applied later to a graduate degree. The list of such programs is provided below. Cumulative GPA of 3.0, or better, required to receive certificate A student earning 3.0 or better in every one of the four certificate courses will be admitted to the corresponding MS program. 6

12 REQUIREMENTS Option 1: Ten graduate courses. Option 2: Eight courses and a thesis. Dual M.S. degree: The second MS degree can be acquired by taking only eight courses. PhD studies are available: Contact EEC and the corresponding department. Admission requirements: GPA (it may vary dependent on the program, typically between 3.0 and 3.2 or higher); GRE has to be taken before or during the first semester of study. 12

13 Factors to consider Instructors: The courses are taught by Missouri S&T faculty and by adjunct faculty approved by the departments. All Missouri S&T faculty and the majority of adjunct faculty hold PhD degrees. Degree: A MS degree from the EEC is the same as a degree any other academic unit of Missouri S&T and is documented as a Missouri S&T degree. Schedule: Face-to-face courses are scheduled one evening a week. Courses offered from the Missouri S&T campus via Internet may have a different schedule (all courses are archived and available any time). 13
