5 Deuteronomy 7:6-9 (NASB) 6 For you are a holy people to the L ORD your God; the L ORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. 7 “The L ORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples,

God sovereignly chose the priests – Exodus God cleansed them from sin before their duties began – Leviticus 8: God clothed the priests for service – Ex. 28:3 4. God anointed the priests for service – Lev God prepared the priests for service – Lev God called priests to obedience – Lev. 10:1-3 Who in the World Are You? 1 Peter 2:9-10

21 Our Remarkable Position  You are Connected in Christ  Literally means people who are set apart or separate, holy ones – Leviticus 19:1-2  God sets us apart to have a relationship with Him!  Service to God flows out of that relationship!  We are a unique people connected to God and therefore connected to each other  Vertical connection dictates horizontal connection in order to be in obedience. Who in the World Are You? 1 Peter 2:9-10

22 Our Remarkable Position  We are Coveted by God  Possession means to purchase or acquire for a price – 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 Cor. 6:19-20  Paul reminds Titus that the purchase price was Jesus Christ – Titus 2:13-14 Who in the World Are You? 1 Peter 2:9-10

23 Titus 2:13-14 (NASB) 13 looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds

24 Our Remarkable Position  We are Coveted by God  Possession means to purchase or acquire for a price – 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 Cor. 6:19-20  Paul reminds Titus that the purchase price was Jesus Christ – Titus 2:13-14  God coveted a relationship with you so much that He gave His only Son to obtain that relationship with you!! Who in the World Are You? 1 Peter 2:9-10

25 Our Resulting Praise  Proclamation of Christ  Because of our identity in Jesus, we become publishers or advertisers of the Gospel  We can do this because we are Illuminated in Christ – called from darkness to His marvelous light to shine in this world!  We have received compassion from Christ so we can likewise can be compassionate  It is a natural response to our salvation but also an honor and privilege to proclaim! Who in the World Are You? 1 Peter 2:9-10

26 1 Timothy 1:12-17 (NASB) 12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, 13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14 and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.

28 Application Who in the world are you? Is your identity allowing you to grow in Christ? Are you serving and proclaiming Christ as a natural outpouring of who you are in Christ? Who in the World Are You? 1 Peter 2:9-10
