Jesus For Christians, Jesus of Nazareth, called Jesus Christ, is Lord and Savior.

Orthodoxy and Catholicism: The Nicene Creed  I believe in One God, Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in One Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages. Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father, through whom all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became Man. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and He suffered and was buried. On the third day He rose according to the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father, who together with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who spoke through the prophets. In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I expect the resurrection of the dead; and the life of the age to come. Amen."  I believe in One God, Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. 3 The Lutheran Church  “We believe, teach and confess that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Lord, and that through faith in Him we receive forgiveness of sins, eternal life and salvation. We confess that “our works cannot reconcile God or merit forgiveness of sins and grace, but that we obtain forgiveness and grace only by faith when we believe that we are received into favor for Christ’s sake, who alone has been ordained to be the mediator and propitiation through whom the Father is reconciled” (AC, XX, 9). -From A Statement of Scriptural and Confessional Principles; The Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod

Christian Reformed Church  24.) God remembered his promise to reconcile the world to himself; he has come among us in Jesus Christ, the eternal Word made flesh. He is the long awaited Savior, fully human and fully divine, conceived by the Spirit of God and Born of the Virgin Mary.  27.) As our substitute he suffered all his years on earth, especially in the horrible torture of the cross. He carried God’s judgment on our sin; his sacrifice removes our guilt. He walked out of the grave, the Lord of life! He conquered sin and death. We are set right with God, we are given new life, and called to walk with him in freedom from sin’s dominion. -From “Our World Belongs to God: A Contemporary Testimony”; Christian Reformed Church of North America, crcna.org.

The Methodist Church  We hold in common with all Christians a faith in the mystery of salvation in and through Jesus Christ. At the heart of the gospel of salvation is God’s incarnation in Jesus of Nazareth. Scripture witnesses to the redeeming love of God in Jesus’ life and teachings, his atoning death, his resurrection, his sovereign presence in history, his triumph over the powers of evil and death and his promised return. Because God truly loves us in spite of our willful sin, God judges us, summons us to repentance, pardons us, receives us by that grace given to us in Jesus Christ, and gives us hope of life eternal.” -From “Basic Christian Affirmations”; United Methodist Church, umc.org

The Pentecostal Church  Jesus is the son of God according to the flesh and the very God Himself according to the Spirit. Jesus is the Christ; the creator of all things; God with us; God made flesh; God manifested in the flesh; He which was, which is, and which is to come, the Almighty; the mighty God, everlasting Father, and Prince of peace…It took shedding of blood for the remission of the sins of the world, but God the Father was a Spirit and had no blood to shed. Thus he prepared a body of flesh and blood and came to earth as a man in order to save us…” -From “The Apostles’ Doctrine; United Pentecostal Church, upci.org
