Basic Bible Teaching Lesson 11 THE KINGDOM OF GOD ON EARTH

Overview  Review: Lesson #10 – The Meaning of Baptism  The Kingdom of God on earth:  A fundamental bible teaching which Jesus mentioned in his model prayer (Matthew 6:9-10)  The promised time when God’s purpose will be done on the earth.  Will happen when Jesus returns from heaven  What will the Kingdom be like?  Look at Psalm 72, and other Bible passages  A time of Judgment before the Kingdom  Judgment of those who understand the gospel  Judgment of the nations who will not accept Jesus

Believe & Repent (Acts 3:19) Hear and Understand (Romans 10:17) Continue in well doing (Romans 2:7) Salvation at the return of Christ (2Tim 4:8) Baptism (Mark 16:16) “ And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized ” (Acts 18:8) Steps to SalvationReview

Baptism = “to be buried under water” What about infant sprinkling? Not taught in the Bible: 1.T he word “Baptism” means to fully immerse in water 2.T he examples of baptism in the Bible involve full immersion (Mark 1:5, 9-10; John 3:23; Acts 8:36-29) 3.A baby cannot “believe the gospel” and “repent” Review

Baptism is like being buried with Jesus Don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.. Romans 6:3-5 Baptism is the beginning of a new life Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. Romans 6:12-13 Review

Ezekiel chapters 40 – 48 A detailed plan of the Temple to be built in Jerusalem

But first, a time of judgment.. When Jesus Christ returns, the Bible reveals the following order of events: When Jesus Christ returns, the Bible reveals the following order of events: 1.Resurrection and gathering of all the responsible (those who understand the true gospel) 2.Judgment of those responsible 3.Faithful believers rewarded with immortality 4.Judgment on the whole world 5.God’s Kingdom established on the earth. The Bible speaks about 2 types of Judgment: The Bible speaks about 2 types of Judgment: 1.On those responsible – to reward the faithful with immortality 2.On the whole world – to destroy all those who will oppose Jesus

All those who have understood the true Gospel are responsible to appear before the Judgment seat of Christ. All those who have understood the true Gospel are responsible to appear before the Judgment seat of Christ. When Christ returns, the dead will be resurrected, and those who are still alive will be brought to the place of Judgment. When Christ returns, the dead will be resurrected, and those who are still alive will be brought to the place of Judgment. Those who refused to become Jesus’ disciples will be rejected and not allowed to enter the Kingdom: Those who refused to become Jesus’ disciples will be rejected and not allowed to enter the Kingdom: Judgment 1 - Jesus will judge everyone who knows the true Gospel. 'Throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.‘ Matthew 25:30 Matthew 25:30 But those who have repented, been baptized and tried to live their life as Jesus’ servants, will be rewarded with immortality: But those who have repented, been baptized and tried to live their life as Jesus’ servants, will be rewarded with immortality: “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' Matthew 25:23

The hope of the Bible The Resurrection John 11: 25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies” John 11: 25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies” 1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, AND THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, AND THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST. Philippians 3:21: Jesus Christ … will transform our LOWLY BODIES so that they will be like his GLORIOUS BODY. Philippians 3:21: Jesus Christ … will transform our LOWLY BODIES so that they will be like his GLORIOUS BODY. 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 ; For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 ; For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

The Bible is very clear that not every human being will be resurrected. Resurrection is conditional upon our calling or enlightenment: (see the principle of Romans 2:12 below) “ For as many as have sinned without law will also perish (never resurrected) without law... ” and “ as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law. ” Who will be resurrected and judged?

Only the enlightened will be resurrected and judged. Psalm 49:20 A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish. Psalm 49:20 A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish. Daniel 12:2 (NKJV) MANY of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2 (NKJV) MANY of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt. 1 Cor. 15:22-23...so IN CHRIST all will be made alive..... Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, THOSE WHO BELONG TO HIM. 1 Cor. 15:22-23...so IN CHRIST all will be made alive..... Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, THOSE WHO BELONG TO HIM. Isaiah 26:14 (NKJV) [Referring to the wicked] They are dead, they will not live; they are deceased, they will not rise: therefore You have punished and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. Isaiah 26:14 (NKJV) [Referring to the wicked] They are dead, they will not live; they are deceased, they will not rise: therefore You have punished and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. Isaiah 43:17 [Referring to the wicked] and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick: Isaiah 43:17 [Referring to the wicked] and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:

Resurrection & Judgment The enlightened (responsible) The unenlightened Remain dead forever Eternal Life Raised and Judged Second Death Faithful Unfaithful

Just like Jesus was rejected when he first came, many people and nations will try to reject Jesus when he returns. Just like Jesus was rejected when he first came, many people and nations will try to reject Jesus when he returns. However, this time, Jesus will destroy all who oppose him. However, this time, Jesus will destroy all who oppose him. His judgments will include a great earthquake His judgments will include a great earthquake Judgment 2 – On the whole world. Jesus will destroy all who oppose him Men will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from the dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth. In that day men will throw away to the rodents and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship. They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth. Isaiah 2:19-21

The Coming Great Earthquake 15 Kms. 50 Kms And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south..” Zech.14:3-4 “Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.

The Clear Message of the Bible Jesus will return to set up the Kingdom of God Jesus will return to set up the Kingdom of God We have to decide now if we want to be in it We have to decide now if we want to be in it If we leave the decision until his return it will be too late.
