Final Things Revelation 20:11-15

Christ returns to destroy all that is evil.

Alas for that day! For the day of the L ORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty. Joel 1:15

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man… they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Matthew 24:37…39

… for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly… 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3

By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 2 Peter 3:7

“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the L ORD Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them. Malachi 4:1

This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 13:49-50

… for our “God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:29

… let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Hebrews 10:25-27

Christ returns to destroy all that is evil. Upon Christ’s return there is a final judgment.

In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:30-31

For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat… So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:10…12

Christ returns to destroy all that is evil. Upon Christ’s return there is a final judgment. Everyone must appear at the final judgment.

And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. Jude 6

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God “will give to each person according to what he has done.” Romans 2:5-6

But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. Matthew 12:36

Christ returns to destroy all that is evil. Upon Christ’s return there is a final judgment. Everyone must appear at the final judgment. o Believers and unbelievers will be judged.

Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2

Christ returns to destroy all that is evil. Upon Christ’s return there is a final judgment. Everyone must appear at the final judgment. o Believers and unbelievers will be judged. o Even unbelievers will resurrect.

“Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29 and come out— those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. John 5:28-29

At the Judgment… … the righteousness of God’s judgment is revealed.

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. Romans 2:5

At the Judgment… … the righteousness of God’s judgment is revealed. … everything hidden will be revealed.

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God. 1 Corinthians 4:5

The sins of some men are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them. 25 In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not cannot be hidden. 1 Timothy 5:24-25

“Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs. Luke 12:1-3

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13

At the Judgment… … the righteousness of God’s judgment is revealed. … everything hidden will be revealed. … rewards and punishment will be given.

“Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. Revelation 22:12

The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great— and for destroying those who destroy the earth.” Revelation 11:18

How can we respond? Tell others of Jesus. Deal with hidden sin now. Be encouraged to good works. Anticipate the day when evil is totally banished.
