14. Sudden, shocking awareness Jesus, in his humanness, realized it was for him! Mark 14:36 – “Take THIS cup from me.” Luke 22:44 – “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his seat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.” “Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

15. The Cup’s Empty He drank it! Mark 15:34 – “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?!” – God did not answer Jesus’ Tzeakah. John 19:30 – “IT IS FINISHED!” It’s empty. Christ drank it all. There is nothing we can or need to do.

16. The Cup’s Empty Body of Christ rejoices! God will take us out of sin – Yes! God will set us free from sinful nature – Yes! God will redeem us from sin – Yes! God will protect us from going back to sin – Yes! Christ drank the punishment meant for us – YES!!
