5  Out of all service options, we agreed on hunger  We did not know hunger was so prevalent so close to us  Something we all relate to: being hungry  We wanted to help those who do not have this privilege  Raise awareness to others who did not know

7  CT has the 3 rd highest median income in the Country at $66,452  Food Insecure rate in 2011 was 11.4, very insecure rate 4.3 = 428,000 people in CT  1 in 7 households cannot afford the food they need for their families  SNAP  “CT Map The Meal Gap Study”

11  The Community Dining Room (CDR) is a well known and respected organization that is well known for feeding the hungry.  They strive to promote the impact of hunger and isolation in our society.  The Walk-a-thon was a way for us to help promote awareness of hunger in Connecticut.  By Participating in the Walk-a-Thon we were able to help raise money that benefitted the CDR.  As a result, the walkathon took in 3x the amount of money than last year
