12 * There are approximately 1088 veterans in Bighorn county * Of those veterans in Bighorn county there are approximately 300 Crow Tribal enrolled members that are veterans. (since than it has risen to 420) Crow Tribal enrolled members that are veterans. 45 of those are women * Of those 300, there are approximately 31 homeless Crow veterans National American Indian Housing Council Legal Symposium 2013

13 * Native Americans are the largest and most disproportionally represented minority group amongst the homeless community. Despite representing only 4% of the population in Billings, Native Americans are an alarming 27% of the total homeless population. * Among the homeless population, 13% (or 45 individuals) have served on active duty in the US Armed Forces. 14 * Veterans are disproportionally represented in the Billings homeless population. Veteran’s make up only 9% of the overall Billings’ population, but comprise of 13% of homeless population * Within a 75 mile radius of Crow agency there are 16,420 veterans National American Indian Housing Council Legal Symposium 2013

15 * Case Management * Tribal Veteran Rep(TVR)-Counsel and advised veterans seeking VA benefits and services.Assisting with accessing veterans benefits * Benefits-Education/Home Loans/Burial/Survivor Benefits/Compensation/Pension/Health ect… * Computer Lab-Assisting with accessing veterans benefits. Options would MyhealthVet/Ebenefits/Va.gov. * Coordinate services with Health and Human Services National American Indian Housing Council Legal Symposium 2013

16  Tribal Outreach Worker (TOW)- Coordinates and recruits Veterans to receive medications and counseling for symptoms related to PTSD or other mental health conditions. The TOW is a VA employee and services are done via Telehealth  Telehealth- Need an MOU with the VA and CVA or AHAP. ( Working out the nuts and bolts)
