Defining the Problem
What L&D is really about in the corporate environment, is optimizing the performance of the organization through optimizing the performance of its human resources. Assumption Instruction is information organized specifically to help individuals perform better. Access to content is a requirement of every business.
True Stories In one of Canada's largest banks, it takes them 4-6 weeks to track down content relevant for training programs Average amount of time in corporations to find information you need to complete a task is two hours a day In one of Canada's crown corporations all training records show 'competence' but the organization is broken

What Makes Learning on Demand So Effective:
What technologies support 'learner centric' control model? Structured content input: administrator/user normalization of data metadata the analytics framework remote content repositories APIs and web services separating content from form and function content aggregators
New Skills Analysis – systems thinking Content modelling Analytics (Big Data)
Examples Adaptive Systems Xplana Query Based Expert Maker Skytree Prior Knowledge
How Does This Help? Learning is fluid, complex, messy Integration of technology requires us to think about the system Build value in the network Enable employees to build their own experiences
Is It Effective/Is It Efficient? The second was an experiment in a Tsunami-hit Indian village, where I was trying to prove that Tamil-speaking 12-year-olds cannot teach themselves biotechnology in English. At the end of the experiment, a little girl told me, "Apart from the fact that improper replication of the DNA molecule causes genetic disease, we have understood nothing else."
My Questions to you? How would we measure “effectiveness”? What about “certification”? What future roles will you play?
