YEAR 6 Pentecost –Serving Witness LF1 Jesus appears to his disciples Scripture Luke 24: Jesus reassures His disciples they will not ne alone. Matthew 28: Jesus tells them of their future mission. Christian Beliefs Resurrection - Jesus rose from the dead and sent His spirit to be among us. He appeared to His friends and sent them out. We become disciples and receive the Holy Spirit in Baptism. Christian Life; Beliefs and Values The need for evangelisation - passing on the faith We are called to witness Equality Self-giving Courage Commitment Perseverance Experiences, feelings and ideas Have you ever been asked to do something difficult/challenging? How did it make you feel? Going somewhere where you are unfamiliar with. Speaking in front of strangers. YEAR 6 Pentecost –Serving Witness LF2 The Ascension of Jesus Scripture Acts 1: ; Jesus returns to his Father Christian Beliefs Ascension: After his death and resurrection Jesus returns to His Father. He promised to send the Holy Spirit. The Trinity – the Son returns to the Father and sends the Holy Spirit. The need for a community in prayer. The Holy Spirit empowers us. Christian Life; Beliefs and Values The need for evangelisation - passing on the faith Commitment Reverence Courage Determination Experiences, feelings and ideas Has anybody gone away or moved away from you? How did you feel? Did you expect them to return? What or where is Heaven for you? How do you keep them close to you? Feelings of Loneliness, Emptiness, Expectation. Sacraments Confirmation - the promise that The Holy Spirit will empower and transform us. Christian Beliefs We are called to serve God and others and be witnesses to the Gospel. We are to act in the way that Jesus taught us to do. Christian Life; Beliefs and Values Commitment Hospitality Self-giving - sharing Vocation - Discipleship Welcoming the stranger Service Friendship Inclusion Equality Experiences, feelings and ideas Empathy. Compassion. Do you know anybody who is a witness to the Gospel today? How do they serve others? Why do they do this? How do you feel when you help someone? How do you feel when someone helps you? Sacraments Holy Orders/Religious Life - call and commitment to God and others. Baptism - Following in the footsteps of Jesus and being a member of God’s family. Prayers/Traditions Our Father - “0ur” and “Give us this day”. YEAR 6 Pentecost – Serving Witness LF6 Ourselves as Witnesses Scripture Ephesians 2:10 Romans 12:5 - We are one body - though many parts. Matthew 28:16-20 Christian Beliefs God has created us for a life of good deeds and to serve others. We are all made in His image and likeness and are brothers and sisters belonging to the Body of Christ. Even people whom you have never met? What or who inspires you to do this? Feelings of fulfilment. Sense of belonging and purpose and achievement.
