2 YEAR 3 Local Church – Community JOURNEYS LF1 The Liturgical Year Scripture Christian Beliefs The Church’s Year celebrates the key elements of Jesus’ life. It brings Christians close to the work of the Trinity – Father, Son and Spirit The Christian life is about journeying with Christ and sharing his way of life. Liturgy is the actions and words of prayer and worship the Church family offers to God. Christian Life; Beliefs and Values Celebration Thanksgiving Prayer and worship Community Service Experiences, feelings and ideas Have you had any experiences of going to a funeral? How did you feel? Invite a parishioner to share their experiences of their parish ministries and how they help at a funeral. How do you think parishioners can support bereaved families? Sacraments Eucharist celebrates Feasts, Saints’ days and seasons. Christmastide – celebrates the birth of the saviour. Lent precedes and prepares for Easter – a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Eastertide celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit. 5 YEAR 3 Local Church – Community JOURNEYS LF4 The feasts of Our Lady Scripture The gospel from one of Mary’s Feast Days Christian Beliefs Mary is the Mother of God and our Mother. The Annunciation celebrates Mary’s ‘yes’ to be the mother of Jesus. The Assumption – Mary was taking to heaven before her earthly death. The Immaculate Conception - Mary was full of grace from the beginning of her life. Rosary – a journey with Mary through the life of Jesus.
