9 Problem Statement Technology engineering towers minimize impacts inside of their domains, without regard to impacts on other groups. Infrastructure consolidation focuses along technology fault lines, with focus on minimizing the impact to the technology managers without regard to the users or long-term business impacts of particular business decisions. Technology refreshes focus on technology resource optimization vs corporate resource optimization. Data-center / Storage / Network / Servers need to provide flexibility to scale any layer up or down. A component re-factor should be cheaper, in-sourcing / out-sourcing should be faster and more dollar efficient thru time. High-usage customers should do the most work, and work should be linear in growth function, not exponential

10 Benefits All Non-functional Time to market Scale-up / Scale-down l2 (network / san) l3 (network / LB) Segmentation Isolation Encapsulation Testing Hard Split Shared Components Fault Domain Performance / Capacity Domain Change Domain Lifecycle management Reduced effort for DR testing (production IS) Minimized changes from production to DR Reduced resources to support business requirements

11 Use Cases Intra-site relocation / rehosting Inter-site relocation / rehosting Out-sourcing In-sourcing Service / Department demarcation
