1 Back to event programme Come together: collaborative solutions for sustainability problems 08 December 2011, London When? Thursday 08 December 2011 from 2.30PM – 5.00PM (registration from 14.00) Where? Shoreditch Trust, Units 1-2 Waterhouse, 8 Orsman Road, London, N1 5QJ Event Details Background The world we live and work in is changing fast. Climate change, resource constraints, economic recession and spending deficits, rapid population growth, urbanisation, technological breakthroughs and a host of other factors are all having real impacts on our society now and in the future. Leading organisations are realising that these problems can not be tackled by one organisation alone. To overcome them we are going to have to work together to come up with innovations and solutions, which radically change the way that we live and work. Business leaders such as Sir Michael Latham, Sir John Egan and Andrew Wolstenholme have been calling on the construction industry to collaborate and integrate for the last 15 years. Bringing the whole supply chain together from the inception of the project has been proved to produce better and more cost effective built environment. We need to go beyond the boundaries of the traditional construction industry and reach out to other industries, individuals and organisations to come up with new models, innovative designs and enable lifestyles which have a low environmental impact and are happy and healthy. Why you should attend? This joint Forum for the Future and CIRIA network event will give delegates the chance to learn from industry practitioners who are going beyond traditional industry boundaries and delivering new and innovative projects and models. Delegates will also be invited to hear about how far the collaboration agenda advocated by Latham, Egan and Wolstenholme has come and the benefits of going beyond partnering to a more holistic way of building.
