6 Exercise School Preference Stage
Pupils may indicate up to 3 school preferences Pupils given Confirmed Offer are guaranteed a place in the school, provided they submit preference for the school, and their PSLE results meet eligibility criteria for courses offered by the school [i.e. Express or N(A) or (NT)] 2013 DSA-Sec Exercise

7 Exercise School Preference Stage
Pupils are required to submit their school preferences from 21 Oct 2013, 9am to 25 Oct 2012, 3 pm via the DSA-Sec Internet System themselves or seek the primary schools’ assistance. Pupils who did not submit their school preferences by 25 Oct 2012, 3 pm will be deemed to have withdrawn from DSA-Sec Exercise. They will be able to participate in the S1 Posting Exercise to opt for their choice of schools. 2013 DSA-Sec Exercise

Mode 1 - Submission through Internet by Parents Parents are advised to Complete hardcopy School Preference Form Access DSA-Sec website and click on DSA-Sec IS link. Logon using pupil’s BC/FIN and DSA-Sec PIN (as printed on School Preference Form) Input school preferences Print out Verification Slip as proof of successful submission System available 24hrs from 21 Oct 2013, 9 am to 25 Oct 2013, 3 pm (Singapore Time) Refer to DSA-Sec-IS step-by-step guide which is available online in the DSA-Sec website Primary schools to provide PCs (with Internet access) and printers for parents to use during Exercise School Preference Stage 2013 DSA-Sec Exercise

Mode 2 - Submission through Primary School School staff to collect completed DSA School Preference Form from parents School staff access DSA-Sec IS using School User account to capture the school preferences For parents’ verification – print 2 copies of VS to be printed and signed by parent. Schools to retain 1 copy for audit purposes Availability: 21 Oct to 25 Oct 2013, 9 am to 3 pm daily (Singapore Time) Proxy Form – proxy must be at least 21 years old a) Photocopy of parents’ NRIC (both sides) b) Photocopy of BC of the pupil c) Photocopy of the proxy’s NRIC (both sides) 2013 DSA-Sec Exercise

Amendments to School Preference or Withdrawal Parents are allowed a one-time amendment to School Preferences via the DSA-Sec IS Parents who wish to make further amendments are to approach child’s primary school for assistance. Schools to assist using School User Account and print VS for parents to sign. Schools to keep copy for 1 year for audit purposes Amendments or withdrawal not allowed after closure of Exercise School Preference Stage (i.e. 25 Oct 2013, 3 pm, Singapore Time). Schools will not entertain late requests. 2013 DSA-Sec Exercise

16 Important Pointers Parents are reminded that pupils who do not submit any School Preferences by 25 Oct 2013, 3 pm are deemed to have withdrawn from DSA-Sec Exercise to participate in the S1 Posting Exercise 2013 DSA-Sec Exercise 16

17 Results Release Stage (Between 22 Nov and 25 Nov 2013 -Tentative)
DSA allocation results release through Primary Schools together with the release of PSLE results Successful DSA-Sec pupils are not allowed to opt for schools in S1 Posting Exercise, but may indicate course option and/or Third Language option, if applicable. to transfer schools after the release of the PSLE results as they are expected to honour their commitment to the DSA school for the duration of the programme that they are committed into. Unsuccessful DSA pupils will receive S1 Option Form, informing them of unsuccessful DSA allocation, and pupils are to participate in S1 Posting Exercise 2013 DSA-Sec Exercise

39 Dual Track Schools S1 Option Phase
Two Option Codes: ‘O’ Level Programme and Integrated Programme (IP) Pupils must choose option codes of both programmes if he/she is interested in both (eg (‘O’ Level) and 9151 (IP)) Pupils who choose the IP of the school as first choice will NOT be automatically be posted to ‘O’ Level Programme unless he/she chooses the ‘O’ Level Programme as a second choice and meets the COP. Similarly, if a pupil chooses ‘O’ Level Programme as a first choice and is successfully posted, he/she will not be considered for the IP even if he/she meets the IP COP.

60 Points to Note Specialised Schools for Normal (Technical) Students (SSNT) Crest Secondary School and the new Spectra Secondary Eligible pupils to receive a letter of invite and application form Interested pupils to apply directly to the school (from 22 to 26 Nov 2013) Even after applying to SSNT, the pupil is required to opt for a secondary school in case the application is unsuccessful. Successful SSNT applicants will be informed by SSNT and will not be posted in the S1 Posting Exercise. 61 Points to Note NUS High School, School of the Arts, School of Science &Technology Do not participate in S1 Posting Exercise Admission to Singapore Sports School (SSP) Apply directly to SSP, not through S1 Posting Exercise If the pupil accepts the offer from SSP, they should not exercise their school preference during the DSA Exercise School Preference Stage If they exercise their school preference during the DSA Exercise Preference Stage, their earlier SSP offer will be void Pupil should continue to take part in the S1 Posting Exercise Successful SSP pupils are not allowed to transfer to another school as they are expected to honour their commitment to SSP If there are extenuating circumstances that pupils cannot continue in SSP, they can only be transferred to their posted secondary school provided to them under S1 Posting Exercise 2013 S1 Posting Exercise

No priority to place siblings in the same secondary school If parents want the siblings to be placed in the same secondary school, they can choose the same 1st choice school for the siblings where the academically weaker child is more likely to be posted to 2013 S1 Posting Exercise

63 Points to Note Affiliation – Pupils to select affiliated school as 1st choice to enjoy affiliation priority (new) Affiliation for dual-track schools – affiliation will be considered only for the ‘O’ Level programme if pupil chooses both programmes of the same school in the 1st or 1st and 2nd choice.
