5 BE A CULTURAL AMBASSADOR FOR YOUR COUNTRY Teach aspects of your culture Create an interest in your language and your culture Encourage an open attitude towards a multicultural and multilingual environment HELP IMPROVE COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE. Help students practice their listening and speaking skill s Help the teacher in the creation of activities and in the classroom We encourage the participation in extracurricular activities: sports, trips, etc. It is an educational, social and enriching experience. 9 Go to the Oficina de Extranjería to obtain your NIE (Identification number as a foreigner). Take with you: 1.Your original passport and a photocopy of each page. 2.The letter of acceptance (carta de nombramiento). 3.Three colour photos 4.Some money for the tax. The rules however could vary from one Police station to another and I have no way of knowing that. If there are too many people, they might give you an appointment for another day, but please say that it is very important that you get your NIE ASAP and try to turn up in person the following day. 10 When you have the NIE, send it ASAP to selepe@dgoifp.caib.es.selepe@dgoifp.caib.es This is mandatory in order for us to process your payments. NON-EU Nationals. Go to the Oficina de Extranjería on the appointment date given to you to pick up your TIE (Tarjeta de Identificación de Extranjero). EU Nationals. Go to the Oficina de Extranjería on the appointment date to pick up your Certificate of Registration as a European Citizen. Send to selepe@dgoifp.caib.es a scanned copy of the TIE o Certificate of Registrationselepe@dgoifp.caib.es as a European Citizen. Obtain your NIE AND TIE Step 2 Step 3 Step 4

11 IMPORTANT: To get your monthly stipend, you need to send your NIE to selepe@dgoifp.caib.es. This is extremely important to process payments.selepe@dgoifp.caib.es At the end of the month, the school will write you a € 700 cheque (provided there haven’t been any unjustified absences) which can be cashed in the bank. 12 Access healthcare EU-Nationals The EU Nationals that hold the European Health Insurance Card, have access to medically necessary, state-provided healthcare during a temporary stay in any of the 28 EU countries with the same conditions as people insured in that country. Non-EU Nationals Language assistants from outside the EU are covered by an insurance policy provided by the Department of Education. It is a repatriation, accidents and Illness policy but will not cover diseases that were contracted before their arrival in Spain. The insurance card and package will be sent to your school.
