3 3 What’s the Purpose of the BRAC RTF Following the BRAC announcements last year, DOD encouraged communities to establish regional organizations to deal with BRAC related changes. Providing Federal funding to study the impacts of the projected growth and develop a growth management plan for the region. Forming Working Groups in assess the problems and integrate with the on-going planning efforts. Develop solutions for problems identified in the Work Groups Coordinate the long-term sustainment effort for Ft. Bragg POLITICAL CLOUT OF ELEVEN COUNTIES AND FT. BRAGG

BRAGG WILL AFFECT CURRENT TRANSPORTATION PLANNING SWOT ANALYSIS/BRAINSTORMING SESSION IDENTIFY PROBLEM AREAS IN THE REGION DUE TO BRAC AND OTHER GROWTH AT FT. BRAGG PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FOR CONSULTANTS HOW DO WE ASSIST YOU IN YOUR PLANNING? IDENTIFY CONTACTS AND AGENCIES

5 5 BRAC Regional Task Force (RTF) Purpose: To unify the community planning effort by coordinating the requirements and upgrades associated with the BRAC actions for the eleven counties and municipalities surrounding Ft. Bragg and Pope AFB. Scope: This organization is the liaison between the military; the communities in the organization; state agencies associated with these requirements; and federal agencies designated to provide community assistance for BRAC. 9 9 Timing of BRAC Actions  BRAC law: implementation has started; six years to complete all actions, by September 15, 2011  BRAC military construction funding is required  4 th Brigade Combat Team (BCT) has been activated/facility construction almost complete  Positions assigned and Personnel begin to arrive in 2006  43 rd Airlift Wing closes in early 2008  FORSCOM phased move in 2010/2011  Pope AFB becomes an AAF and transfers to Ft. Bragg in 2010  Next BRAC scheduled for 2015
