1 In the 18 th century, the black people from Africa was forced to become slaves. They were taken from Africa to America. The Blues music helped to express their emotions. They also made instruments out of bones and any object they could find. The Black people were treated horrible and were disrespected. Lots of families got spilt up from each other and sold to horrible people who didn’t care if they were happy. When a women got pregnant the child that was born is owned by the owner of the slave. The slaves were allowed to get married and have children.

2 The most common musical form of blues is the 12-bar blues. The term "12-bar" refers to the number of musical bars. The 12-bar blues or blues changes is one of the most prominent chord progressions in popular music. The blues progression has a form in lyrics, phrase, chord structure, and duration.

3 Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of different types of crops as tobacco. Slavery was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries, and African-American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. Most slaves died while being transported to America as the health conditions were poor and as there was a lot of people on the ship diseases were spread quickly. The remaining people who survived the journey would be put straight into a auction. People normally got separated from their families.

4 Music played an important part in the slaves life's because it helped them express their feelings. The slaves made instruments out of scrap materials e.g. wood and metal. The most popular instrument the slaves made was the drums. They played the instruments by your palm, fingerprints and sticks. The jawbones became scrapers when the teeth were scraped with keys and metal objects.
