8. The Malayan Union was inaugurated on 1 st Apr 1946 by the British as a platform for the launching of UMNO in May 1946 to be the hero and protector of the rural Malay masses! (This was the typical British neo-colonialist trick that they have put on their colonies world-wide when they were forced to decolonize by the Americans.) Immediately after that, the Malayan Union was withdrawn ostensibly in the face of UMNO’s opposition. 8

9. In Jul 1946, the British started negotiations with UMNO and the Sultans on the Federation of Malaya Agreement. Other Malay nationalists and locals were ignored. Next, the British needed an enemy to complete the deception – the MCP and the Chinese ! The British now ruled using UMNO as the frontmen and the MCP (& Chinese) as enemies. Today, it’s still the same old story to deceive the rural Malays: UMNO Hero. Chinese enemies ! 9
