3THE ORIGINHalloween has its origins in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian feast of All Saints Day. In large part, is a secular celebration although some believe that has a religious undertone. The word Halloween is a derivation of the phrase All Hallow's Eve. Formerly, the Celts believed that the line between this world with the Underworld opened in the day of Samhain (Halloween), allowing good and evil spirits, to pass through.
4TRADITIONS AND SYMBOLS The day is often associated with orange and black colors and is strongly linked to symbols like the Jack-o'-lantern. 5TRICK OR TREATTrick or Treat originally was a legend that not only the spirits of the dead were free to roam the earth on Halloween night. Among them was a terribly bad, Jack-o-lantern, wandering through the villages, going from house to house demanding "trick or treat."
