Cows??????

Cows and the approach to the utilization of resources SOCIALIST APPROACH You have 2 cows ------ You give one to your neighbor. COMMUNIST APPROACH You have 2 cows ----- The State takes both and gives you some milk. BUREAUCRATIC APPROACH You have 2 cows ------ The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other, and then throws the milk away... AMERICAN APPROACH You have two cows ------- You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. Later, you hire a consultant to analyze why the cow has dropped dead. FRENCH APPROACH You have two cows ------ You go on strike, organize a riot, and block the roads, because you want three cows. GERMAN APPROACH You have two cows ------ You re-engineer them so they eat once a month, and milk themselves. ITALIAN APPROACH ------ You have two cows, but you don't know where they are. You decide to have lunch. AUSTRALIAN ----- You have two cows. Business seems pretty good. You close the office and go for a few beers to celebrate. GRI APPROACH ----- You have two cows. You clean them up to make them attractive to each other. They produce multiple baby cows that you can milk for many years.

Agenda Plasterboard waste IN: 100% recycled gypsum and paper OUT 1. Summary 2. Introduction – about GRI 3. Background: EU drives recycling: Landfill directive/Council Decision Waste Framework Directive 4. Gypsum Paper Recycling Solution 100% recycling now possible Our new technology and its characteristics End markets 5. Closing remarks

Traditionally, in the gypsum recycling process, the focus is on gypsum powder from gypsum waste for new plasterboards. EU waste legislation will drive recycling, assuring that the vast majority of waste in Europe by 2020 will be recycled not landfilled. -> All resources found in the waste should be fully utilized Gypsum Recycling International has now developed a new technology to ensure not only the full utilization of the gypsum powder but, additionally also of the paper - a side stream in the gypsum recycling process. Our new technology cleans the paper to be then given back to the paper industry for 100% recycling Summary

Worldwide the leading recycler of gypsum/plasterboard waste The preferred partner for recycled gypsum raw materials for the top 5 plasterboard manufacturers in the world Driven by new innovative solutions –Mobile gypsum recycling system –Own specialized collection system for gypsum waste Active in 9 countries on 3 continents, including the US and Japan Recycling units in Europe, North America and Asia Only focused on gypsum/plasterboard waste Winner of numerous environmental awards, a.o. the prestigious Cleantech Award; given to “The most promising Danish Cleantech Company” About Gypsum Recycling International A/S: Summary

Gypsum Recycling System 90% 10%

In cooperation with the best Knauf Gyproc/ BPB Siniat/ Lafarge US Gypsum National Gypsum GRI serves all the top plasterboard groups in the world. Multiple different plants are under contract with GRI for the supply of recycled plaster- board waste.

EU legislation is very much focused on fully utilizing the resources found in waste –Mandatory recycling rate: 70% of C&D waste must be recycled by 2020 –The priority of the Waste Hierarchy must be followed from Dec 2010  Priority: 1) Re-use 2) Recycle 3) Recovery 4) Disposal  Priority must be followed, unless documentation for environmentally better solution if lower prioritised treatment is chosen –Possible ban on landfilling of recycable waste after 2020  More gypsum waste to be recycled  More paper from gypsum recycling will be generated  Need for finding a solution for the paper now EU drives (paper) recycling

Previous use of the paper –Landfilling –Incineration –Stables/barn material –Composting –etc.  Paper not used as a paper  The resources found in the paper are not fully utilized EU drives (paper) recycling

100% recycling of gypsum plasterboard waste now possible Our new technology and its characteristics End markets New Gypsum Paper Recycling Solution

Completely in line with the EU‘s ambitions  Co-funded by the Eco-innovation Initiative of the European Union  Investment of more than 2,2 Mio € split between EU and GRI New Gypsum Paper Recycling Solution gypsum wasteRC paperRC gypsum powder100% recycling

Previously and Now Previously Now 95% RC gypsum powder 5% RC paper 100% gypsum waste 90% RC gypsum powder10% paper fraction 50% RC gypsum powder50% RC paper 100% gypsum waste 90% RC gypsum powder10% paper fraction End result

New Gypsum Paper Recycling System

100% GRI innovation Patent-pending Applying various treatment steps to separate the gypsum from the paper with special attention to contaminants (wood, plastic, insulation, etc) and the gypsum glued on to the paper Characteristics

Mobile (on one trailer; unit can be moved from one gypsum recycling warehouse to the next) Own generator 2 ton/hr capacity Dimensions (trailer mounted): 2,55w x 13,5l x 4h meters Impurity removal efficiency: 98% Input: gypsum paper from recycling and gypsum waste Endproduct: cleaned recycled paper Characteristics

Similar markets to any other recycled paper Numerous applications now possible Special focus on: –Plasterboard linen –Replacement in recycled cardboard End markets

For Sale! Technology is applicable to –Paper from recycling of external plasterboard waste –Paper from recycling of internal plasterboard plant production waste Paper Recycling Technology Offer –Complete machine (self-contained, fully operational, mobile unit): 1,2 mio € (Lower investment costs for static version) –Processing service: Per ton fee Different pricing models, depending on the conditions locally Paper belongs to owner that will sell it: 70€/ ton GRI gets the paper and sells it: 50% of the normal costs of disposal of paper for the waste owner
