2. Definition O Propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. O You may not realize that you are familiar with propaganda. It’s all around you! Let’s look at some potentially recognizable examples!

4. Rosie the Riveter O RTR is a poster representing the American women who worked in factories during World War II, many of whom produced munitions and war supplies. O The poster is symbol of feminism and promotes gender equality, proving men and woman can do the same job.

6. Presidents O Often times, presidents will use propaganda posters to promote themselves and their campaign. O By using the word “HOPE” what is this poster telling you?

8. War Posters O This recognizable poster was a motivational message produced by the British government in 1939 in preparation for the Second World War. O The poster was intended to raise the moral or promote positivity within the British public who were threatened with widely predicted mass air attacks on major cities.

10. Uncle Sam/War O This poster was used to promote men to enlist in the army to fight for our country. O Uncle Sam looks threatening and serious, suggesting he would be upset with you if you didn’t enlist. O It also promotes a sense of strength, implying you are automatically strong enough if you enlist.
