4. Fortune as a River Fortune can be compared to a river that floods because it can destroy everything in it's way, but if you stay prepared (dams) you can control the actions you take (flood).

5. Stay Aware If the Prince relies entirely on fortune he won't be able to correctly respond if the fortune is lost. So if a man is successful by acting one way and the circumstances change, he will fail if he doesn't change his methods.
