3 Bullying/To Bully/Bully Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. Bullying is a big problem in American schools. (noun) Travis is a bully, he pushed me after school. (noun) Travis bullied me after school. (verb)

4 To Intimidate frighten or scare (someone), especially in order to make them do what one wants. The bully intimidated little Billy by making a mean face and punching the air.

5 To Harass/Harassment To Harass: (Verb) To be aggressive pressure or intimidating towards other person or people. He harassed the waiter for being slow Harassment: (Noun) Aggressive pressure or intimidation. Incidents of harassment in school should be reported.

6 To Intervene/ To Stand Up To To come between disputing people The teacher intervened before the two boys began fighting.

11 WRITINGWRITING Cyber bullying is new term for harassment that occurs between peers over the internet. What should companies like Facebook do to prevent cyber bullying?

12 Experience Tell a story from your childhood wherein you saw someone bully someone else. Tell a story of when you were bullied by a peer or sibling/relative. Tell a story from your time as a teacher wherein you so someone bully someone else. Did you intervene? How? If you could do it again would you do anything different?

13 Opinion What could schools do to prevent bullying? Why do bullies do what they do? Why are bullies so powerful? What are the characteristics of a typical bully? What are the characteristics of a typical harassment victim? Is bullying always bad? Why?
