 Introduction to Training Organization  Detail information on the Project  Training Experiences  Problem encountered  ……….  ………..  ……….

Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) is the largest engineering consultancy organization in Sri Lanka. CECB offer multi-disciplinary expertise such as Building constructions, Roads, Highways, Bridges and Irrigational works. Nearly 600 of engineers, architects and geologists are employed under CECB. They are doing multi billion rupee projects which makes them large profit margins.

 Client: Ministry of Justice & Law Reforms.  Contractor: State Engineering Corporation (SEC)  Consultant: Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau ( CECB ).  Contract period: 546 days  Funding: Government of Sri Lanka  Value : Rs. 631 millions Proposed Court Complex

Doing Setting Out of Staircase Flight Formwork of Staircase Flight

 Soil was filled layer by layer and water was sprinkled to bring the moisture content of the soil to the optimum moisture content.  Soil was compacted using Vibratory Roller.  Sand Cone test was done to determine to dry unit weight of the soil Performed Sand cone Test

 This is done as a protection against termite attack.  Drill holes at 2 to 3 feet intervals along the perimeter of the building. Inject the termiticide.  Then termiticide spray directly to the soil. Inject termiticide Spraying termiticide

Water Supply Line  20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm PVC pipes are used.  Pipe lines are checked by applying pressure of 8 bars. Sewer Line  Sewer lines are laid 1:80 slope.  All sewer lines are connected to manhole. Applying Pressure for Supply lines

PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS ON CONCRETE STRUCTURES Hydration temperature increment in mass concrete structures THERMOCOUPLE LOCATIONS THERMOCOUPLE WITH DATA LOGGER

Concrete Defects Concrete Defects SOLUTION BARA MORTAR BEFORE AFTER

 Provide Safety Equipments (helmets, safety shoes, boots, googles, gloves and safety belts)  Safety Instruction Boards  Located Medical Centre at the Site  Special Traffic Controlling Section  Charge Fairs from employees for Misbehaviors

 Not only improved the technical knowledge as I discussed.  Obtained a vast knowledge on dealing with all sorts of people  Learned both contractor and consultant point of view when constructing a new building.  Made new friends with industry engineers and other workers.  Say any other activities involved during training period…
