3.  A number of mega steel plants coming up in this region.  This New-Line-A Connector between coal fields in Talcher to Banspani-Sukinda line.  Coal movement in one direction and iron-ore in reverse.  Will dovetail the Paradip Port capacity expansion for sea-borne thermal coal movement for power houses.  East Coast line between Nirgundi and Cuttack bears the heaviest pressure (Traffic from 3 directions).  Provide a reliable/economical/faster alternative to passenger/freight transport.

4.  Will reduce congestion on roads/carbon emissions. (A Goods/Passenger Train = 50 Trucks/ 300 Buses)  Will directly/indirectly benefit more than one crore people.  Investment in rail is cost-effective compared to road.  During construction stage will generate employment of forteen lakh man days.  Will be the life-line of the fastest growing industrial belt of Odisha.

5.  Length - 102 km.  Location- Between Talcher Road (Talcher-Sambalpur Line) and Baghuapal station (Daitari- Keonjhar-Bansapani Rail Line).  Estimated Cost - Rs 1100 crore (Latest Projection).  Districts to Serve - Angul, Dhenkanal & Jajpur.  Land acquisition involved :-  Pvt Land- 1205.501 acres (69 Villages).  Govt Land - 219.900 acres.  Forest Land - 251.060 acres.

6.  Land acquisition for first 15km each from both Angul- Sukinda-end.- Dec. 2012.  Work will commence from both end - Apr. 2013.  Acquisition of balance land. - 2013-14.  Forest/Environmental clearance.- 2013-14  Date of Completion of the Project.- 2016-17.

7.  Total Equity - Rs 420 crore.  Debt (Market) - Rs 650 cr +  Equity Break-Up :-  45% (211 cr.)- Rail Vikash Nigam Ltd. (A Railway Ministry undertaking)  25% ( 105 cr)- Jindal Steel & Power Ltd.  20 % (84 cr)- Bhusan Steel Ltd.  10% (42 cr)- (Expected from Odisha Govt).  Bhusan Steel Ltd (Meramundali) has stopped subscribing after Rs 10 Cr. Subscription.  IDCO has consented for 1 % (4 crore).  OMC is suggested for balance 9% (37.80 crore).

8.  Final Location Survey Completed.  Alignment of Rail-Line Finalised.  Bridge work on Brahmani River in full swing.
