1. The Richardson Institute Internship Programme (RIIP) Supported by Lancaster University FASS-Enterprise Centre

The RIIP A voluntary external engagement programme to run each semester Providing internees with; Analytical and research skills Potential to have work published Team based activities Knowledge of ‘peace and conflict’ in both a local and international context Experience of working under the guidelines and in some cases working with external organisations (NGOs, think tanks, charities, faith based organisations)

3. What are the disciplines the RIIP will focus on? Inter-disciplinary sections Religion and borders Human rights Religion and peace-building Political violence Conflict resolution Peace, governance and society Economic peace

4. What will be required from the internees? Commitment o Attendance at workshops o Meeting report deadlines o Supporting fellow interns Professionalism Energy

5. RIIP Structure Approximately 5 interns per working group Each group will be assigned a question/project via an external organisation Each group will nominate a rapporteur who will be the point of contact for the RIIP coordinator Interactive workshops will be held on a bi- weekly basis and will include; o Research training o Problem solving o Project progress reports Final reports will be submitted to RI staff Good work will be sent to relevant external organisations and potentially published (by the RI and external org)

6. Application Application forms will be posted on the RI website over the next seven days All applications should be submitted before the last day of term Details will include; o Name, student ID, email address o Degree currently studied o Area of interest regarding peace/conflict Acknowledgment of you participation will be announced by the end of December 2012 The internship will begin as of the first day of the next semester 2013
