What does “Home Front” mean? Home Front means the community that is at home continuing to live while the soldiers are away fighting.

What are civilian? All the people that are not in the war.

Photography was a new technology invented. Why was it important during the Civil War? This technology allowed the civilians to see what the war was like, since their weren’t there.

Inflation- What is it and why did it occur in the South during the Civil War? Inflation is the process of prices going up (increases) because of the lack of resources. It occurred in the South during the Civil War because much of the battle occurred in the south where farms were destroyed and the Confederates also needed to pay for the war.

Who was Mathew Brady? A civilian who used photography to show the civilians what war life was like by taking pictures.

“Life on the home front was especially hard in the South” was a statement from the article. What evidence from the article can you provide to support this statement? 1- men were going to war and women had to take on the men jobs 2- battles destroyed farms, houses, barns and cities 3- not enough food to eat for the soldiers and civilians

The role of the women changed during the Civil War. Name two tasks that the women did while the men were away fighting? This is a complete list of what the women did: -ran the farms and business, made uniforms, knitted socks, made badges and raised money for the soldiers

During the Civil War, times were very difficult. The men were gone and the women had to take on new tasks, such as run farms and businesses. Life in the South was very difficult. Farms became battlefields. Cities, homes, and barns were destroyed. There was not enough food to feed soldiers and the civilians. Based on this information, what was the THEME that the author wanted the reader to learn about the idea or impact of War? Here is a list of possible THEMES: Be ready to deal with whatever choice you make in life If you treat others wrong, then it might happen to you What goes around comes around War effects everybody Fighting is not always the best answer

Most of the Civil War battles took place in the South. What do you think the outcome would have been if most of the battles took place in the North? Here’s a list of possible answers: The north would’ve had to deal with more destruction. The war would not have lasted that long because the North had more advantages (more people, weapons and knew their land) The South would’ve won because they could have blown up the factories and the North wouldn’t have the weapons and supplies.
