2 Types of Sound Cue Ambient: – Sounds of the environment. – Meant to give a sense of place / time. – Shouldn’t distract. Examples: Birds chirping, traffic sounds, rain.

3 Types of Sound Cue Sound Effect: – A sound cue, usually shorter in duration, that has an impact on the story. Examples: Doorbell ringing, thunder, explosion

4 Types of Sound Cue Music: – Meant to support / heighten / change the mood of the play. – Music must be carefully chosen for effect on the audience. – Often played during scene changes – Sometimes used before and after a show

5 Soundtrack to your life -Divide into groups of 3-4 -Write a scene based on someone’s real life experience where something interesting happened (doesn’t have to be completely true). -Include at least one ambient sound cue, at least one music cue, and at least one sound effect. -Use YouTube or your personal music to locate the sound effects you plan to use.
