3 Edmund Barton Edmund Barton was the first PM for Australia. They celebrated at a grand ceremony on the same day. Edmund Barton was born on the 18 th January 1849 at Glebe, NSW. 4 Alfred Deakin Alfred Deakin was the Prime Minister from the 24 th September 1903 to 27 th April 1904, from the 5 th July 1905 to 13 th November 1908 and from the 2 nd June 1909 to 29 th April Alfred Deakin was the second, fifth and seventh PM. Alfred was born on the 3 rd August 1856 at Melbourne, VIC. Alfred Deakin was in the Protectionist Party. Alfred was popular. He convinced 80% of his electors to votes for federation. Alfred’s final years were sad because he started to lose his memory. He died on the 7 th October Alfred’s electorate was Ballarat, VIC.

5 Chris Watson Chris Watson was the Prime Minister from the 27 th April 1904 to 17 th August Chris Watson was the first Labor Prime Minister. Chris Watson was born on the 9 th April 1867 at Valparaiso, Chile. Chris Watson was and is still the youngest PM ever. He was 37 years old. John Christian Watson was his full name. Chris died on the 18 th November Chris’s electorate was Bland, NSW.

6 George Reid George Reid was born on 8 th August 1880 at Grafton, NSW. George Reid was the leader of the free trade party and then he decided to call it the Anti-Socialist Party. George Houstoun Reid is his full name. George died on the 12 th September George Reid was Prime Minister from the 18 th August 1904 to 5 th July George’s electorate was Cowper, NSW. George was the first Australian PM to die.

7 Andrew Fisher Andrew Fisher was in the Labor party. Andrew Fisher was born on the 29 th August 1862 Crosshouse, Ayrshire, Scotland. Andrew went to Crosshouse Primary School when he was a little boy. Andrew died in Britain on the 22 nd October Andrew had a strong Scottish accent. 8 Joseph Cook Joseph Cook was Prime Minister from the 24 th June 1913 to 17 th September When Joseph Cook left politics he served as an Australia’s third High Commissioner in London from 1921 to Joseph Cook was born on the 7 th December 1860 at Silverdale, England. Joseph Cook was in the Labor party. Joseph died on the 30 th July Joseph’s wife was a school teacher. Joseph’s electorate was Parramatta, NSW.

9 William Morris Hughes William Morris Hughes was Prime Minister from the 27 th October 1915 to 9 th February William Morris Hughes was the longest PM until Robert Menzies. William Morris Hughes was born on the 25 th September 1862 London. William Morris Hughes was in the Labor party. Billy William Morris Hughes was his full name. 10 Stanley Bruce Stanley Bruce was Prime Minister from the 9 th February 1923 to 22 nd October Stanley Bruce was the eighth PM and the second youngest. 11 James Scullin James Scullin was Prime Minister from the 22 nd October 1929 to 6 th January James Scullin had a big welcome when he arrived at Canberra on the 21 st October James Scullin was born on the 18 th September 1876 at Trawalla, VIC. James Scullin was in the Labor party. James Henry Scullin was his full name. James died on the 28 th January He was sick for a long time before he died. James’s electorate was Yarra, VIC.

12 Joseph Lyons Joseph Lyons was Prime Minister from the 6 th January 1932 to 7 th April Joseph Lyons was the first PM to die in office. 15 Arthur Fadden Arthur Fadden was Prime Minister from the 29 th August 1941 to 7 th October Arthur Fadden retired from politics in Arthur Fadden was born on the 13 th April 1894 at Ingham, QLD.
