2 THEME : L AND U SE Indicator: Forest and other Wood Land Concept and Definition: (Caricom Definition) Forest and Wooded Land – this includes forest nurseries and seeds orchards that constitutes an integral part of the forest, forest roads, cleared tract, firebreaks and other small open areas within the forest, forest in national parks, Dominica (Data has not been submitted)

3 F OREST AND OTHER WOODLAND ( Caricom Definition) nature reserves, and other protected areas such as those of special environmental, scientific, cultural or spiritual interest, and windbreaks, and shelter breaks of trees of trees with an area of more than half a hectare and a width of more than twenty metres.

4 T HEME : LAND USE Indicator: Forest and other Wood Land Land under Forest – land under natural or planted stands of trees whether productive or not.

5 F OREST CARICOM Other wooded land – refers to land either with a tree crown cover of five to ten percent of trees able to reach a height of five metres at maturity, or a crown cover of more than 10 percent of trees not able to reach a height of five metres at maturity and shrub or bush cover.

6 F OREST - P ROTECTED A REAS Protected Areas ; A protected area includes six categories, which are: - Category I(a): Strict Nature Reserve - Category I(b): Wilderness Area - Category II: National Park - Category III: National Monument - Category IV: Habitat/Species Management Area - Category V: Protected Landscape/Seascape - Category VI: Managed Resource Protected Area Categories 1a., II, IV,V is applicable to Dominica
