Matthew 6:2–4 When you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

1 Chronicles 21:21–26 As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David and went out from the threshing floor and paid homage to David with his face to the ground. 22 And David said to Ornan, “Give me the site of the threshing floor that I may build on it an altar to the L ORD - give it to me at its full price - that the plague may be averted from the people……

23 Then Ornan said to David, “Take it, and let my lord the king do what seems good to him. See, I give the oxen for burnt offerings and the threshing sledges for the wood and the wheat for a grain offering; I give it all.” 24 But King David said to Ornan, “No, but I will buy them for the full price……

I will not take for the L ORD what is yours, nor sacrifice that which cost me nothing.” 25 So David paid Ornan 600 shekels of gold by weight for the site. 26 And David built there an altar to the L ORD and presented burnt offerings and peace offerings and called on the L ORD, and the L ORD answered him with fire from heaven upon the altar of burnt offering.

1.Sacrificial giving means you are generous to the Lord.

Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the L ORD, and he will repay him for his deed.

If you constantly find yourself wanting more start being more generous.

As long as you think you are doing God a favor by giving, you are not practicing sacrificial giving.

2.Sacrificial giving means you give to the church.

2 Corinthians 9:12-13 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 By their approval of this service, they will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others.

Until you start giving to the church in regular and ever increasing ways, you are not practicing sacrificial giving.

3.Sacrificial giving means you are gracious to the undeserving.

We must stop trying to decide who is deserving and simply be gracious, as God is gracious.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. 1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Luke 6:30-31; 35 Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. 31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them…… 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.

As long as you only give to those who “deserve it”, you are not practicing sacrificial giving.

Start practicing sacrificial giving and you will experience supernatural living.

Philippians 4:18-19 I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. 19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 13:3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Start practicing sacrificial giving and you will experience supernatural living.
