10 ISEE/RC Translation Library In 1993-1994, thanks to financial support of Charles Mott Foundation, Michigan USA, the ISEE Russian Chapter had translated four books of leading authors in ecological economics into Russian language. The translation series was co-edited by Alexey Reteyum and Paul Safonov. FOR THE COMMON GOOD. Redirecting the Economy Toward Community, the Environment, and a Sustainable Future (by Herman Daly and John Cobb), Beacon Press, Boston, 1989, 482 pp. The book contains tree parts: I. Economics as an Academic Discipline; II. New Beginnings; and III. Policies for Community in the USA. ECOLOGICAL ECONOMICS. Energy, Environment and Society (by Juan Martinez-Alier with Klaus Schluepmann), Basil Blackwell, Oxford, 1990, 287 pp. This is the first book on Ecological Economics, describing the emergency of the Ecological Economics paradigm, and includes also a survey of corresponding studies of Russian authors. ECOLOGICAL ECONOMICS: The Science and Management of Sustainability (edited by Robert Costanza), Columbia University Press, New York, 1991, 525 pp. This volume contains selected papers, presented at the ISEE International Conference, held in Washington DC, May 1990, combined in three sections: Developing an Ecological Economic World View; Accounting, Modeling and Analysis; Institutional Changes and Case Studies. A substantive introduction to ecological economic and sustainability principles is also provided. VALUING THE EARTH: Economics, Ecology, Ethics (edited by Herman Daly and Kenneth Townsend), The MIT Press, Cambridge, 1993, 387 pp. The book collects the fundamental works of famous environmental economists on the topics: I. Ecology: Ultimate Means and Biophysical Constraints; II. Ethics: The Ultimate End and Value Constraints; III.
