1 ANCIENT EGYPTIANS By Katie

2 Introduction The Ancient Egyptians were one of the most important civilizations of the past. They were famous for Tombs, monuments, mummification and pyramids. The Ancient Egyptians lived Along the banks of the River Nile

3 The river Nile The river Nile is over 6000 km long and is the longest river in the world. The river Nile was used for travelling on and trading foods from other countries. The Ancient Egyptians lived and farmed along the river Nile using the rich soil to provide food.

4 Egyptian Farming The farmers grow Wheat, barley, vegetables, figs, melons, pomegranates and vines. Egyptians grew flax which was made into linen.

5 The Egyptian seasons The Egyptians had 3 seasons. Akhet: No farming was done because of flooding so the farmers worked for the pharaoh building pyramids or temples Peret: In October the river flooded which left rich soil which was ploughed and seeded. Shemu: Crops were harvested and candles were repaired for the next flood.

6 Egyptian Hieroglyphs The Egyptians wrote on papyrus reed. The Egyptians wrote with Pen and ink, pens were made of sharp reeds. Hieroglyphs were writing with pictures. We know how to translate them because of the Rosetta stone. There were More than 700 hieroglyphs

7 Evidence We know that the people wore jewellery in ancient Egypt because we have found the evidence in the tombs. In the tombs of the wealthy we find tables, wooden stools,and beds accompanied by headrests. we have found the evidence in the tombs the clothes were made from linen which was light weight and cool. We know that men and women wore makeup because of the paintings that show it.

8 Egyptian animals Jackals : The Ancient Egyptians realised that Jackals are able to find the good parts of old meat and eat the part and not die. Cats : Cats were very important animals in Ancient Egypt, they were both pets and symbols of Gods like Bast it was a symbol of grace and poise because of the way it hunts.

9 Egyptian animals Scarab beetle : They linked the scarab beetle with the sun God Khepri. Crocodiles : The Egyptians both liked and feared the power of the crocodiles because they were dangerous. Hippos : The hippo was dangerous to boats on the river Nile and people near the river banks the Egyptians were scared of them them because of their huge mouths.

10 Egyptian Gods Anubis : God of Mummification embalming and the dead. Lots of priests wore masks of Anubis when mummifying bodies.
